Astraea

Rescued September 20, 2025

Astraea’s story began in tragedy. She was one of nearly 200 birds discovered in a cockfighting bust where roosters and hens endured neglect and violence. Many suffered injuries, and all were kept in unsafe, inhumane conditions. Thanks to the tireless work of Good Sprout Rescue, who provided care and quarantine, Astraea was given the chance at a safe future. When the time came, she was welcomed into the Wild Pines family.

Among the flock that arrived, Astraea has been the most curious and approachable. She is gentle and welcoming, often coming to the front to see what is happening. While she is not fond of being held, she is comfortable sharing space with people and is far less shy than her companions. Her warm presence and inquisitive spirit make her a bright reminder of resilience and trust, and at Wild Pines she will always be met with the safety and kindness she deserves.

Sponsor an animal

Every resident here eats, sees a vet, and has somewhere warm to sleep because someone chose to pay for it. Monthly sponsorship is the steadiest way to keep that true.
