Kai
Rescued October 9, 2024
Kai was one of four 5-week old kittens being kept outside in a very small kennel. They were living in their own filth with limited access to their mom and only being provided dry adult cat food. We rescued them the morning after a cold snap where the temperature dropped below 40 degrees. We rushed over to find all of the kittens wet and the runt of the litter, Kai, was not responsive at all. We rushed the kittens back to the sanctuary where we put them on a heating mat, got them all dry and used a heat gun on a low setting to warm them all up. Kai remained unresponsive and we rushed him to the emergency vet.
After just a few hours of dextrose, Kai was finally moving and opening his eyes. We brought him back to the sanctuary where he made a full recovery. Kai did suffer from several upper respiratory infections for a few months and battled illness after illness, but now he is a healthy thriving adult cat!
Kai loves to cause trouble, but he is the most social cat at the sanctuary. If you have ever visited us, you have most likely met Kai. He loves to greet everyone and loves to get scooped up for cuddles.
