Lentil
Rescued June 5, 2026
Lentil was rescued from a large-scale neglect case after spending the first months of his life confined to a small dog kennel inside a collapsing barn without adequate food or medical care. When he arrived at Wild Pines, he had a body condition score of just 1 out of 9. Every rib and hip bone was visible, ringworm had left patches of bald skin across his face, and stress had caused large papilloma warts to develop. Instead of growing, playing, and exploring the world like every young calf should, Lentil had spent his earliest months simply trying to survive.
Despite everything he endured, Lentil has a wonderfully curious spirit. He's often the first to investigate something new, always eager to see what's happening around him. Every day he grows a little stronger, a little braver, and a little more confident. Watching him discover that people can be kind, meals are always waiting, and life no longer has to be about survival has been one of the greatest joys of his journey.
