Lyra
Rescued September 20, 2025
Lyra’s story began in tragedy. She was one of nearly 200 birds discovered in a cockfighting bust where roosters and hens were forced to endure neglect and violence. Many suffered injuries, and all were kept in unsafe, inhumane conditions. Thanks to the tireless work of Good Sprout Rescue, who provided care and quarantine, Lyra was given the chance at a safe future. When the time came, she was welcomed into the Wild Pines family.
Of the hens rescued alongside her, Lyra is very much in the middle. She is shy and cautious, but at the same time bold and inquisitive, often caught between wanting to approach and holding herself back. Sweet by nature, she is slowly discovering that people can be trusted and that sanctuary life means she will never face cruelty again. Her gentle curiosity and quiet bravery make her a treasured part of the flock.
