Perseus’s story began in tragedy. He was one of nearly 200 birds discovered in a large cockfighting bust, where roosters and hens were kept in neglectful, violent conditions. Many had visible injuries or were missing from the property entirely, and all had endured hardship. Our partners at Good Sprout Rescue worked tirelessly to provide medical care and safe housing during quarantine, and when the time came, Perseus was welcomed into the Wild Pines family.
Though understandably skittish, Perseus quickly showed that his spirit is also full of curiosity and love. With patience and gentle care, he began eating snacks from our hands, revealing his brave and tender heart. Each day at Wild Pines, Perseus grows more comfortable in his new life of safety and compassion, free from the cruelty of the past.
