Venus’s story began in tragedy. She was one of nearly 200 birds discovered in a cockfighting bust where roosters and hens endured neglect and violence. Many suffered injuries, and all were kept in unsafe, inhumane conditions. Thanks to the tireless work of Good Sprout Rescue, who provided care and quarantine, Venus was given the chance at a safe future. When the time came, she was welcomed into the Wild Pines family.
Among the new flock, Venus is the most timid. She prefers to stay toward the back, watching quietly from a safe distance, while more confident birds step forward. She is gentle and very sweet, but her fear still lingers, making her careful in every move she makes. At Wild Pines, she is never forced to the front and is given the space she needs to feel comfortable. In time, her life of safety and care will help her learn that she is just as valued as every other member of the flock.
